Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
What Is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that supports the body's natural ability to heal and self-regulate. BCST grew out of Osteopathic Medicine and is based on a simple yet profound belief: your body already knows a great deal about how to heal.
Sometimes stress, injury, illness, trauma, or the demands of daily life can make it difficult to access that natural capacity. BCST helps create the conditions for your system to slow down, settle, and reconnect with the health that is already present within you.
Why do people seek out BCST?
BCST may be supportive for people dealing with stress, anxiety, chronic tension, trauma, attachment wounds, headaches, jaw tension (TMJ), medical stress, recovery after accidents or procedures, grief, burnout, or simply feeling disconnected from the body. It can also be helpful for people who have done a lot of talk therapy but feel that their body is still carrying something that words alone have not reached.
BCST is not a replacement for medical care, psychotherapy, or crisis support. It is best understood as a complementary approach that may support regulation, embodiment, and the body’s natural healing processes.BCST can support a wide range of experiences, both physical and emotional.
How Can BCST Support Healing?
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or what feels wrong, BCST helps us listen for signs of health and resilience that are already present in your body. Sometimes these signs appear as a deep breath, a softening in the body, a feeling of warmth, a sense of spaciousness, or simply the experience of feeling more grounded and at ease. As attention is brought to these resources, the body's natural ability to regulate and reorganize often becomes more available.
People often leave sessions feeling calmer, more present, and more connected to themselves. Over time, this work may support improved nervous system regulation, greater emotional resilience, deeper self-awareness, and a growing sense of ease in daily life. From the very beginning of life, our nervous systems develop through connection. Safe, attuned contact helps us learn how to regulate, trust, and feel secure in ourselves and with others.
What Does a Session Look Like?
Sessions are quiet, slow, and guided by your system. We’ll begin by checking in, giving you space to share what’s been coming up for you, physically, emotionally, or internally. From there, we’ll orient to a resource or what feels supportive to you in this moment. From there, we will decide together if and when it feels right to transition to the table.
You’ll lie fully clothed on a comfortable table (or sit if that feels better). Touch is light and still, often at the head, spine, or feet.
During the session:
You are always in control
We move at your pace
You can ask to pause, adjust, or stop at any time
I will check in to support safety and collaboration
Sometimes the session is quiet. Other times, we may gently track what you’re noticing in your body. There’s no right way for it to unfold.
